This art object has been commissioned by the city of Kotka as a part of the sculpture park in the centre of the city. A big old maple close to the children's playground in the Sibelius park was inhabited with appr. 20 strange creatures, resembling metamorphoses of children and insects at the same time.

My creatures reflect the changes happening to children when they grow up. Worm-like caterpillars come from eggs, they squirm as new-born babies; then they grow and get arms and legs and start running and playing around on the branches like preschool children; after all they spread out their wings and fly away from home like teenagers.

Creatures are made from steel wire and are rather light and transparent. However, they have been galvanized and became quite firm and water resistable.
